Actors within the Pays de Dinan — a community of 80 cities and villages — gathered in a local think tank, le Conseil de Développement — and reflected on the question of how to produce energy based on the local renewable energies — wind, sun, biomass; possibly tidal movement later. The stress was made on wood, a little exploited because little known local resource. Then a structure including various actors from the territory — communities, businesses as well as individuals — was imagined and created in 2008 under the legal scic-sarl structure, the only one allowing private and public actors to work and share together. The object of the scic was initially to master the life cycle of a tree, from plantation to valorisation. Today, the scic counts 15 employees and 100+ share-holders (or associates).
